An unexpected new genus of panurgine bees (Hymenoptera, Andrenidae) from Europe discovered after phylogenomic analysis

چکیده
Establishing a higher classification of bees based on morphology alone can fail to capture evolutionary relationships when morphological characters either vary very little between distantly related groups, or conversely greatly closely species. This problem is well represented in the subfamily Panurginae, for which recent global revision phylogenomic data unexpectedly revealed that two Old World species previously placed Camptopoeum Spinola and Flavipanurgus Warncke, are fact most each other, together form sister group relationship remaining Panurgus Panzer combined. To rectify this situation, we here establish an expanded set Panurgini re-assess generic subgeneric concepts tribe. solve paraphyly , new genus Halopanurgus gen. nov. containing H. baldocki (Wood & Cross), comb. fuzetus (Patiny), both restricted coastal sands, saltmarshes, inland saline lagoons extreme south Portugal south-west Spain. Re-evaluation four recently used subgenera strongly supports simplified subgenera; Pachycephalopanurgus Patiny, stat. rev. including Micropanurgus Patiny syn. s. str. Euryvalvus Patiny. seem be oligoleges Asteroideae (Asteraceae), whereas may Cichorieae (Asteraceae). Our findings reinforce challenges establishing phylogenetically sound Panurginae using illustrate even well-studied regions like Europe unrecognised genera persist underexplored corners continent.

New and little known bees of the genus Colletes Latreille 1802 (Hymenoptera: Colletidae) from Central Asia.
In addition to a previously published study about Central Asian Colletes bees we here further report on nine rarely collected and little known species. Now 85 species of Colletes are known from this region with three of them recorded for the first time: C. asiaticus Kuhlmann 1999, C. iranicus Noskiewicz 1962 and C. succinctus (Linnaeus 1758). Colletes pseudomirabilis sp. nov. is described from ...
متن کاملAndinopanurgus, a new Andean subgenus of Protandrena (Hymenoptera, Andrenidae)
A new subgenus of Protandrena Cockerell (Panurginae: Protandrenini) from South America, Andinopanurgus Gonzalez & Engel, subgen. n., is described and figured for distinctive species of the genus occurring at mid- and high elevations in the Andes from Venezuela to Peru (1100-3400 m). In addition to the distribution, the subgenus is easily distinguished from other subgenera by a unique combinatio...
متن کاملTwo new species of nocturnal bees of the genus Megalopta (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) with keys to species.
Megalopta Smith, 1853, is a Neotropical genus of nocturnal or crepuscular bees. Two subgenera are recognized with most of its nearly 30 species placed in the nominate subgenus. Species of Megalopta s. str. are more commonly collected than species of Noctoraptor Engel et al. 1997, all presumably parasites of Megalopta s. str. Two new species of Megalopta are described here: M. (Megalopta) tetewa...
متن کاملMariapanteles (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), a new genus of Neotropical microgastrine parasitoid wasp discovered through biodiversity inventory
A new genus of microgastrine parasitoid wasps, Mariapanteles Whitfield & Fernández-Triana, gen. n., is described from rain forests of the Neotropics. The new genus is related to the common and speciose genus Pseudapanteles, but can be distinguished from the latter by having a complete transverse carina on the propodeum which forks around the spiracles. A molecular analysis based on data from CO...

The stingless bee genus Austroplebeia Moure occurring in Australia and New Guinea is revised, based on a morphological analysis of samples from 177 colonies. Five species are recognised: A. cincta (Mocsáry), A. essingtoni (Cockerell), A. australis (Friese), A. cassiae (Cockerell) and A. magna, sp. nov. Three different colour morphs of A. australis are described. Five new synonymies are proposed...
